Dufferin Emergency Support Fund (DESF) Grants
2022 Dufferin Emergency Support Fund Grants recipients have been announced
Thanks to all of the organizations that applied
Four local charities were selected to receive $13,000 in Dufferin Emergency Support Fund (DESF) grants this summer, each of them dedicated to improving mental health and/or housing in Dufferin County. The Grants Review Team was impressed by the commitment and resourcefulness of the organizations. Each offered different ways to address these two core issues, which have affected so many during the pandemic.
- Dufferin Child & Family Services (DCAFS) — Mental Health Walk-in Intern Program $5,000
- Choices Youth Shelter — Concurrent Disorders Training for Staff $3,000
- CMHA Peel Dufferin — Aging Well in Dufferin $3,000
- Community Living Dufferin — Light at the End of the Tunnel (LET) Project $2,000
The DESF was created to provide extra support during emergency periods. In 2021, we issued grants to address the many challenges created by COVID-19 and the restrictions to combat it. This year’s grants program focused on mental health and shelter/housing. The grants were made possible by the of Enbridge Gas and donors from the community.
We thank our volunteer Grants Review Team for its thoughtful work on assessing and scoring the applications.
