Dufferin Emergency Support Fund

Purpose

The Dufferin Emergency Support Fund was created to support charities and qualified donees in times of emergency anywhere in Dufferin County. The Board of Directors will create a streamlined process for determining the method of distribution of grants from this fund to allow rapid deployment of support to charities and qualified donees in most need, depending on the type of emergency.

Funds donated to the Dufferin Emergency Support Fund are non-endowed, meaning donations are not locked in for long term; any donations received plus any earnings in the fund are available for distribution when needed. Funds will only be available for disbursement when a state of emergency has been declared for Dufferin County or any part of Dufferin County.

The Dufferin Emergency Support Fund will appeal to donors who are unsure which charity is most in need, and rely on the good judgement of the Foundation to disburse funds where impact is a priority.

Q & A

Are you competing with other charities?

No. We are standing shoulder to shoulder with them to build as large a response to this emergency as Dufferin can. There is significant need for philanthropy in Dufferin and encourage those who have a favorite charity to donate directly to them. What we bring is the ability to respond nimbly to the areas of greatest need. We are maintaining regular contact across the whole charitable community to understand where the gaps are between need and funding. The Dufferin Emergency Support Fund will appeal to donors who are unsure of which charity is most in need, and rely on the judgement of the Foundation to disburse funds where impact is a priority.
