Dufferin Hi-Land Trail

2018 Mini Grant Recipient.
Jim Preyde, President of the Dufferin Hi-Lands Bruce Trail Club, a member club of the Bruce Trail Conservancy, received a grant for the Conservancy’s local School Outreach Program from Paul and Joan Waechter.

Congratulations to Dufferin Hi-Land Bruce Trail Club, in partnership with The Bruce Trail Conservancy!

They were recently awarded a grant from Dufferin Community Foundation to enhance their School Outreach Program. The program strives to spark a life-long interest in exploration, nature, geological history of the escarpment and engages youth in healthy active choices. The grant allows all kids to attend, without financial barriers of bus transportation.   Although the Bruce Trail has crossed the Town of Mono and the Township of Mulmur for over 50 years, some of the other Townships in the County of Dufferin do not have public trails close to their schools. We want to promote access to the Bruce Trail to elementary students within the County. Studies show youth today are spending too much time indoors in front of screens, and nature deficit syndrome is becoming a real issue.
